Fun In The Sun

The kids had a blast at Grandma and Grandpa's pool today. The weather was perfect! We swam into the deep end, threw balls in the basketball hoop (that was at the edge of the pool) and played with the fun waterfalls and spouts in the shallow end. It was definitely more fun this year, since the kids were old enough to do things besides sit in a float and be pushed around. Hopefully we will have many more pool days this summer!

Father's Day

We had a very busy day celebrating with all the Dads in our family. The kids started their day by giving their Dad the luggage tags and travel book ( Snapfish picture book) they made for him. Since he travels a lot for work, he can now bring a part of them with him on his trips!

For lunch, we met my Dad (a.k.a. Grandpa Fred).  I am bummed that I was not able to get any good pics of the kids with their Grandpa. Ben was having a rough time, so I knew a picture was out of the question.

Later on in the afternoon, we went to another family get together. This time it was with Grandpa Marty and the gang. The kids had so much fun running around with their cousins. Sydney adores her cousin Sara.

We attempted to get a picture of Grandpa Marty with all his grand kids. Here is the best one that I have, unfortunately you take what you can get with 5 kids all under the age of 3!

I did manage to get a few good pics of the kids with their Dad!

I hope everyone had a great Father's Day celebrating with the ones they  love!

TGIF!!!

Friday was a fun filled day! We started out at Independence Grove. I cannot say enough good things about that place. The kids LOVE it! The best part is...it's free (if your a Lake County Resident).

It was perfect because it was not crowded and the kids were able to run around and explore!

Friday night we went to Libertyville Days. The kids had a blast hanging out with Bubbe, Grandpa, and all of their cousins. They even went on a few rides.

They were a little freaked out by the Fun Slide (as you can see from their poor little faces), but they did have lots of fun on the other rides.

They will definitely have a blast next year, when they are a little bigger and can go on all of the kiddie rides!

Monkey See Monkey Do

It is definitely true that twins have a special bond. They play with each other, they have their own language, AND they learn each other's bad behaviors. For example, Ben has mastered the skill of climbing in and out of his high chair. Even if you strap him in, he seems to break free...he's a regular houdini! His new game is: climbing on a kitchen chair, climbing onto his high chair tray and then falling into his seat. See below....

Guess what Sydney learned from her brother?

Monkey see monkey do....

Ok, I got these cute pictures and now I need to put an end to this before it becomes a habit!

One of those days....

Today has been a rough day to say the least. I was in such a good mood this morning because school is over and it's our first "official" week of summer. My good mood went downhill pretty quickly!

It all started with our gymnastics class today. The class was PACKED! There were so many people there and a lot of  parents brought older siblings too. It was a zoo, which made it even more difficult to keep an eye on both my little ones. Ben was climbing on a block (that he has climbed on a million times), and fell. It would normally be ok because the block is so close to the ground and there are mats all over the floor, but he fell kind of funny on his neck. I was pretty scared but he seemed to bounce back pretty quick, phew! After my heart stopped racing super fast and things were back to normal, it was time to go. Ben was trying to run out the door and into the parking lot. I grabbed on to his shirt and whipped my head around to grab Syd and SMACKED the bridge of my nose right into the door. I was able to keep my composure until I got to the car and then broke down. My nose was (and still is) throbbing. I have no idea if there is something wrong with it,  but I guess time will tell.

After class, we had lunch with an old friend and her daughter. It was yummy food and good company. My day started to get better (not for long). On the way home, Ben spilled milk all over himself, his seat and the floor of the car. I wrapped the leaking cup  in one of the kids' bibs and took it out of the car when we got home. I put it on top of the stroller in the garage so that I could bring the kids in the house, and spilled milk all over the stroller.

The milk is all cleaned up and the kids are sleeping. I am trying to enjoy a little down time and hopefully the second half of the day will be better! If not, I guess there is always tomorrow:)

Role Model

I always try to set good examples for my children. Although it is sometimes hard, I try to watch what I say and how I act around them. This video is the perfect reminder about why I need to remember that my children learn from literally everything that I do.
